Pakistan International Disputes Weekend (PIDW)
Shaping policy, reform, and regional leadership through a future-focused ADR platform.
Transforming a Vision into Reality
As Chair of the Pakistan International Disputes Weekend (PIDW), Mian Sheraz Javaid (MSJ) has been instrumental in transforming the event into a premier platform for legal and industrial discourse in South Asia. Under his leadership, PIDW has evolved from a regional initiative into a globally recognized forum that brings together experts from around the world to engage in critical conversations on dispute resolution.
Historic Reforms at PIDW 2023
PIDW 2023, held in Lahore, marked a significant milestone in Pakistan's legal landscape. The two-day event featured a series of panels and discussions aimed at enhancing alternative dispute resolution (ADR) practices in the country. Notably, the event served as a platform for the formal introduction of the Domestic Arbitration Act 2023, signaling a commitment to legal reform and modernization.
Expanding the Scope
MSJ's vision for PIDW extends beyond traditional legal discussions. He has expanded the event's scope to include innovation showcases, targeted trainings, and strategic networking opportunities. These additions not only spotlight pressing global issues but also address the unique challenges and opportunities within Pakistan and South Asia.
MSJ’s Chairmanship
As the founder and continuous Chair of PIDW, MSJ has redefined what regional thought leadership can achieve. Observing gaps in institutional cohesion and international engagement, he took proactive steps to unify Pakistan’s legal landscape. For the first time in the country’s history, all High Courts were brought together on a single collaborative platform, creating a historic precedent for coordinated judicial reform.
His leadership went beyond coordination—it fostered integration across ministries, judges, lawyers, bar councils, academia, and international ADR bodies. This holistic inclusion has reshaped Pakistan’s image globally, transforming PIDW into a gateway for international engagement and legal harmonization.
MSJ’s vision and execution transformed PIDW into a living engine of reform. Under his leadership, it not only facilitated the introduction of the Domestic Arbitration Act 2023, but also served as a springboard for conventions like the Singapore Mediation Convention, and catalyzed unified ADR strategies across Pakistan’s judicial system.
Through inclusive dialogue and long-term planning, MSJ has built an enduring platform that bridges legal, governmental, and generational divides—making PIDW a symbol of resilience, regional leadership, and strategic foresight in global dispute resolution.
More Than a Conference
PIDW is more than just a conference—it’s a movement. It is an opportunity designed to promote global networking, explore new business opportunities, and position Pakistan as a thought leader in dispute resolution. Through strategic collaboration and innovation, PIDW now represents a high-impact gathering that shapes regional narratives and fosters actionable outcomes.
Vision for 2025 and Beyond
With hybrid formats and regional expansion planned, PIDW is poised to become South Asia’s premier ADR platform. Upcoming editions are expected to anchor PIDW in regional capitals, promote South-South legal exchange, and create sustained momentum for institutional reform. The next edition will be held on October 11–12, 2025 in Islamabad—bigger, broader, and bolder than ever.
Bridge-Building for the Region
MSJ’s leadership vision bridges systems, institutions, and generations—transforming PIDW into a movement of innovation, resilience, and reform. The platform now sets regional standards and inspires new policy blueprints for ADR modernization. It embodies the belief that strategic dialogue and well-designed systems can truly transform dispute resolution in the Global South.
