On the 4th of September 2024, the Chartered Institure of Arbitrators (Ciarb) Pakistan Branch celebrated the inauguration of the Pakistan Engineering Council (PEC) ADR Centre at the Serena Hotel in Islamabad, which marked a monumental development for the construction and engineering sector in Pakistan. As the Chair of Ciarb Pakistan, this event was overseen by Mian Sheraz Javaid.
Mian Sheraz Javaid participated in a panel discussion at the “Pakistan’s ADR Renaissance,” hosted by the Centre for Executive Education (CEE) at the Institute of Business Administration (IBA) in Karachi. This event, held on the 16th of August 2024, brought together experts from across the globe and focused on the transformative impact of Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) in encouraging regional connectivity and advancing commercial law across South Asia.
On the 9th of October 2023, the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (Ciarb) Pakistan Branch, in collaboration with the Law Students' Council Pakistan, hosted an inspiring and informative workshop titled "Charting Your Legal Journey: Career Guidance for Aspiring Lawyers." This highly anticipated event took place at the Bar Room of the Islamabad High Court Bar Association, providing an ideal venue for aspiring legal professionals to engage with experts and gain valuable insights into the trajectory of a successful legal career.
In a significant step toward bridging legal academia and professional development in Pakistan, Mian Sheraz Javaid (MSJ), Barrister, Civil Engineer, and Chair of the CIArb Pakistan Branch, recently welcomed David Christie, Associate Dean for Academic Development and Student Experience at the School of Law and Social Sciences, Robert Gordon University (RGU), UK. Accompanying him was Fakhar-un-Nisa C.Eng, LLM, MCIArb, a key figure in Pakistan’s ADR and engineering law community.
As part of his continued commitment to expanding Pakistan’s dispute resolution framework, Mian Sheraz Javaid (MSJ)—renowned English Barrister, Civil Engineer, and Chair of the CIArb Pakistan Branch—visited the Honorable Mr. Justice Adnan Iqbal Chaudhry, Judge of the High Court of Sindh and representative of the court in the ADR Committee of the Law and Justice Commission of Pakistan. The meeting served as a significant moment of appreciation and forward-looking dialogue, centered on the success of the Pakistan International Disputes Weekend (PIDW’24) and Karachi’s growing stature in the realm of Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR).
Mian Sheraz Javaid conducted the first batch of candidates for the prestigious Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (Ciarb) Accelerated Route to Fellowship (ARF) program. This initiative is a long-term catalyst because it instills a designed pathway for a person who needs to become an accredited Fellow of the Ciarb, a globally recognised designation at the highest expert level in the arbitration field.
The 9th International Judicial Conference, held on the 23rd and 24th of September 2022, marked a pivotal moment in the ongoing efforts to enhance Pakistan’s legal and judicial systems. Among the distinguished participants and speakers at the event, Barrister Mian Sheraz Javaid stood out for his significant contribution to the discourse on dispute resolution.
