The session included informed papers delivered by upcoming legal minds, each providing insightful commentary on comparative models of arbitration and their applicability to Nepal's current attempts to evolve its arbitration practices. Amongst the speakers were Ms. Shreya Khandelwal, Tatsat Pati, Adv. Priyanshi Paudyal, Adv. Yagyadi Acharya, and a posthumous presentation of the writing of Late Birendra Bahadur Deuja, by Dr. Rajendra Prasad Adhikari. Their presentations explained the advantages of incorporating international arbitration procedures and how these could be merged into Nepal's system of dispute resolution.

Sheraz, who served as the session chair, expressed how honored he was to be part of such a distinguished event. “The caliber of papers and presentations we heard today was a testament to the growing interest and commitment to strengthening arbitration mechanisms in Nepal,” Sheraz remarked. “It was inspiring to see emerging scholars discuss how Nepal can adopt best practices from established arbitration hubs around the world to position itself as a key arbitration destination in South Asia.”

One of the main takeaways from the session was that Nepal needed to keep developing its arbitration framework in line with global standards. With growing cross-border investments and commercial activities, there is an ever-growing demand for a well-functioning and efficient system of dispute resolution. The session reinforced the notion that Nepal needs to prioritize institutional capacity-building, legislative fine-tuning, and adherence to embracing global best practices in order to further develop its arbitration services.

At the close of the session, Sheraz gave a synopsis of the points made by the speakers, highlighting the significance of Nepal's constant efforts to strengthen its arbitration facilities. He spoke about how international arbitration can act as a catalyst for economic growth, particularly in light of Nepal's positioning to become a popular arbitration seat within the South Asian region.

Nepal is already taking big steps in this direction, and the conference discussions indicated the growing role that arbitration will have in settling disputes effectively and amicably. For Nepal, developing its arbitration system is not merely about enhancing legal procedures; it is also about creating an environment that will attract investment and commercial alliances.

A special appreciation was given to the Nepal Council of Arbitration (NEPCA) for arranging this thought-provoking session, with special thanks to Dr. Rajendra Prasad Adhikari, Chairman of NEPCA, for his vision in facilitating the arbitration dialogue in Nepal. Sheraz also thanked Rajeev Pradhan for his efforts and commitment, whose hard work was instrumental in the success of the event. His hospitality and efforts towards the growth of Nepal's arbitration environment were appreciated as being outstanding.

Sheraz concluded his remarks with an optimistic outlook for future collaborations, saying, “I look forward to continuing our partnership with Nepal and working together to strengthen arbitration practices and effective dispute resolution mechanisms in the country. Events like this are a crucial step forward in positioning Nepal as a regional leader in arbitration and creating a dispute resolution environment that is efficient, transparent, and accessible.”

The National Conference on Arbitration session was not only a milestone in Nepal's continuous arbitration development but also a representation of the collaborative ethos required to build effective systems of dispute resolution in South Asia. The deliberations initiated during the event are likely to aid Nepal's ongoing development in arbitration, keeping the nation on the path to achieve international standards of dispute resolution.

With Nepal further developing its arbitration system and establishing itself as an arbitration-friendly jurisdiction, it is apparent that the nation is well on its way to being a leading force in the regional and international arbitration scene. Mian Sheraz Javaid's participation in this conference is indicative of the increased global interest in Nepal's arbitration and legal systems, which are poised for development and enhancement in the coming years.
