Reimagining Dispute Resolution in South Asia
How MSJ's vision and innovation shaped the future of ADR in Pakistan and beyond
Identifying the Gaps
When MSJ returned to Pakistan in 2022, he recognized critical structural gaps in the legal and dispute resolution ecosystem. There were no networking platforms to unify stakeholders—judges, lawyers, bar councils, ministries, and ADR centers functioned independently with little collaboration.
Equally concerning was the lack of a gateway for international professionals to engage with Pakistan's rapidly expanding dispute market, despite the vast scale of CPEC investments exceeding $100 billion.
Key Observations:
- No unified networking platform
- Disjointed institutions and legal actors
- Lack of formal pathways for global engagement
The Birth of PIDW
In response, MSJ launched Pakistan International Disputes Weekend (PIDW) in 2022—a bold initiative built on inclusion, reform, and forward-thinking. What began as a personal vision grew into the region's first and most comprehensive ADR summit, attracting judiciary members, corporate leaders, students, and international institutions.
PIDW Highlights:
- Drafting of Pakistan's Domestic Arbitration Act 2023
- Promotion & Ratification of the Singapore Mediation Convention
- Unification of High Court ADR strategies
- Policy-shaping on regional legal reform
Under MSJ’s stewardship, PIDW now functions as a dynamic policy-shaping body, supporting structural reform and enabling Pakistan’s leadership in international arbitration discourse. It serves as both case study and catalyst for how one initiative can spark national legal transformation.
Mentorship Matters
MSJ also founded Mentorship Matters, a groundbreaking platform guiding emerging professionals in international dispute resolution. Drawing on his journey from civil engineer to English barrister, he offers structured mentorship on legal writing, cross-border advocacy, and strategic visibility.
What Sets It Apart:
- Personalized leadership development
